Auric Maw

The Monster Research Network has received a story about a new creature classified as the Auric Maw. The person who encountered this creature was kind enough to share their experience. The following is their experience of this monster.

We were touring an old Victorian Home during a ghost hunt a few months ago. The home was occupied, but the occupants were family friends, so we were welcome at the location and not trespassing. We explored the home in the dark and used night cameras to see our surroundings.

I stumbled into a bedroom that had a light shining bright on a small desk. This was odd because we turned all the lights off in the home before the ghost hunt began. The desk had necklaces, rings, and bracelets neatly placed on one part of the desk. However, there was one solitary ring that sat out of place and away from the rest of the jewelry.

I couldn’t resist but to pick the ring up and try it on before putting it back, closer to the other jewelry. I felt a sharp pinch on my finger as I was staring at the ring, admiring it on my finger. I started to freak out when the ring would not come off. I noticed little teeth pressing into my skin. The pain was immeasurable when I tried to pull on it, but I was more traumatized wondering how I was going to explain this to the owners of the house. I ended up telling them outright what happened, but they told me they did not recognize the ring.

Day 1:

The ring still won’t come off. My finger is now swollen a little, which makes it even harder to try to remove it. I have used soap, grease, and many other lubricants to try and remove it. I think the teeth are causing the ring to stay in place.

Day 2:

The swelling has gone down a little bit. My finger feels numb, but the grip seems to have gotten stronger. This seems contradictory to what I assume would be happening. Regardless, I am internally freaking out about this ring being stuck to my finger.

Day 3:

I feel helpless at this point. The ring will not come off, and getting a spot in a hospital will be a challenge due to the doctor shortage in my state. The grip seems to be getting tighter, and I feel the teeth shifting and making quiet crunching noises. However, no swelling or bleeding is happening on my finger.

Day 4:

I was finally admitted to the hospital. I am under observation. Because of the doctor shortage and lack of swelling/bleeding, they are observing what’s happening and projecting to get this off within the week. I was given medication to calm my nerves.

Day 5:

The grip on my finger seems to have subsided just a little. The pressure has gone down. Only a few more days until I can take this thing off my finger. I can’t wait to be done with this nightmare.

Day 6:

I feel the pressure intensifying. The small teeth seem to be shifting slightly. You can hear them moving and grinding. I was put on medication to calm my anxiety. I was reassured I was not in danger because my finger was still functioning, and there was no swelling or bleeding.

Day 7:

I woke up in unbearable pain. The finger that had almost zero swelling yesterday was completely swollen and purple today. The teeth on this ring feel like they are tearing at my skin, like a saw tears at a tree branch. I ran to the bathroom, clutching my hand. My finger is now bleeding, and blood is dripping into the sink.

It felt like time stopped when it happened. I was staring at my finger, balling my eyes out in pain, when I heard a crunch. The ring was off, but my finger went with it. I screamed for doctors and nurses to come help me. They were shocked when they saw the scene in my bathroom. There was blood everywhere. I was expedited to get the bleeding stopped. We wanted to reattach my finger, but the ring and my appendage were both gone. The only thing I have left is the memory of the experience and an empty spot where my finger once was. I called whatever this was the Auric Maw, and I’ll never wear a ring again after this incident.

Monster Description:

The Auric Maw is a cryptid that masquerades as an alluring piece of jewelry. At first glance, it appears to be a beautiful, shimmering golden ring, intricately designed with swirling patterns that seem to dance in the light. Its surface is smooth and inviting, drawing in unsuspecting victims with its captivating glow.

Habitat:

The Auric Maw we found was in an old Victorian home. The home itself is well over 100 years old. We found this creature near other jewelry, but it was far enough away to catch your attention. It’s not known whether there are different types of Auric Maw or if this is the only one.

Behavior:

This seemingly innocent ring possesses a dark secret. Once someone slips it onto their finger, it binds itself to them, becoming a part of their being. It releases small teeth that clasp onto the person. The grip tightens each day, piercing into the skin of the person.

On the seventh day, the Auric Maw reveals its true nature. Unfortunately for the wearer, the ring essentially bites off the finger of the victim. In the panic, the ring manages to roll away with the finger, and it’s not known what the Auric Maw does with it.

Physical Traits:

The Auric Maw discovered looks like a beautiful golden ring. It has a swirling pattern to make it stand out from other jewelry. The victim of this incident said there were no teeth when she put the ring on.

Conclusion:

The Auric Maw has only one sighting. We are not sure if there are others, and we know even less about where the ring went. It’s something new that hasn’t been seen. It reminds us of a mimic, a creature that imitates an object like a chest to lure its victims. If you or anyone else has sightings of the Auric Maw, please share your story with the Monster Research Network.
